Jimmy Choo steps into India

British luxury label Jimmy Choo opened its doors to India with its first store in Mumbai, at the Hilton Towers' Galleria in Nariman Point on Wednesday. The store shares the neighbourhood with Gucci, which is also the largest single-brand luxury store in India yet.

Both brands have been brought to India by the Murjani Group, and an exclusive launch event will take place for Jimmy Choo lovers on December 6. Doffing its hat to the brand's English roots, the JC event will be a 'Champagne High Tea' - very unlike the regular cocktail party launches that Mumbai socialites have grown accumstomed to.

Says Mid Day:
Probably the most expensive pair of heels (Rs 60,000 approximately) in the city, The Sign adorns the entrance, with a lifesize poster of Canadian supermodel Heather Marks for company. You might wonder if it's "possible" to part with a sizeable chunk of your monthly income on a pair of heels. But when they are selling you Hollywood style glamour, the zeroes invariably fade into a blaze of arc lights.

Well said, eh?
