India in Vogue
Here's a look at the inaugural issue cover of Vogue India. The magazine is all set for a grand launch at the Umaid Bhavan Palace in Jodhpur (Rajasthan) tomorrow, and features Bollywood stars Preity Zinta, Bipasha Basu and Priyanka Chopra on the cover, along with models Monikangana Dutta and Laxmi Menon.
The Business of Fashion reports that French photographer Patrick Demarchelier especially got Gemma Ward to pose with the Indian line-up for this debut, which includes contributions from some of Vogue's internationally known staffers, including Lucinda Chambers of British Vogue, who styled the cover and editorial featuring Gemma Ward.
Interestingly, the timing of the launch couldn't be more perfect. With a long tradition of luxury in India and an estimated $500 million domestic luxury market, global brands will now be more than eager to advertise their products to India's growing middle class.
